Your doctor and the staff at East Valley Outpatient Surgery will undertake all necessary actions to make certain your surgery will go smoothly and make your experience at the facility comfortable and stress free.

Day of Surgery
Preparation:
- At your last pre-op appointment you were given a bag with prescribed eye drops, sunglasses, and perhaps other items. Please bring that with you.
- It is imperative that you have an adult 18 years or older to drive you home after your procedure. If you have not made arrangements for an escort, your surgery will be be rescheduled. Your safety is our priority, so we will not allow you to leave the surgery center unaccompanied.
- If you normally wear contact lenses, do not wear them today.
- Shower just before your appointment. Wash your hair first with any shampoo. Wash your body using a liquid antibacterial soap and a clean washcloth. Rinse well to remove all soap. Dry your body with a clean towel.
- Do not use any perfume, lotions, or powder. Do not wear makeup or nail polish.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- You will be asked to remove eye glasses, hair pins, piercings, or any other loose objects. Please bring a small bag to hold your items if needed, including a case for your glasses.
- Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home as we are not responsible for them. If you bring any valuable items with you, we kindly ask that you leave them with your escort.
Admission:
- It’s important to arrive as instructed for your scheduled surgery. Please arrive on time or a bit early.
- If you are coming by car, there is free onsite parking.
- You will check in with your photo ID and insurance information.
- You will need to provide your co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible payment.
- Please ask your escort to remain in our waiting room during your procedure, and to inform the receptionist if he or she must leave for any reason.
Pre-op (preoperative):
- When it’s your turn, a staff member will take you to a pre-op area where you will be seated in a comfortable exam chair.
- You may be asked more than once to verify your name, birth date, what kind of surgery you are having, and where on your body the surgery will be done.
- A nurse will prepare you for surgery.
- Your surgeon, the anesthesia provider, and other members of your care team may talk with you during this time. You will have the opportunity to ask questions.
