At East Valley Outpatient Surgery, we encourage you to learn about your surgical procedure from beginning to end. We understand that it is quite normal for patients to feel mixed emotions like anxiety, fear, and fussiness before a surgical procedure. Learning what to expect will help you to remain calm. Please ask questions and address concerns regarding your procedure so that you fully understand and are comfortable proceeding.

Surgery Overview

Before scheduling you at our facility, your surgeon will go over all aspects of the planned surgical procedure. After this consultation, your procedure will be scheduled and you will be given an arrival time at East Valley Outpatient Surgery.

The day prior to your scheduled appointment, a patient representative will contact you to help make the arrival process easy. You will be asked to review your health history, medications you currently take, and about any drug allergies or intolerances. Your preoperative instructions will also be reviewed.

Important considerations:

  • It is your responsibility to ask for clarification on anything you are unsure of or don’t understand. We want what the best possible surgical outcome for you, so please make sure that you clearly understand what to do.
  • To experience the most optimal outcome for your surgery, it is vital that you pay attention to and follow all instructions you are given.
  • Always be forthcoming and detailed about your health history, current conditions, medications or supplements that you are taking or have taken recently, and any other relevant information that may be asked of you.
  • Some medications MAY NOT be taken the day of surgery, or in some cases you may be asked to stop taking a particular medication several days before.
    • For example, generally, you should stop any anti-inflammatory medications containing aspirin 5 to 7 days before your surgery.

Insurance

Please check with your insurance provider to ensure you're eligible for benefits. When applicable, we're happy to work with you on a case-by case-basis to provide you with all documentation needed for maximum insurance reimbursement. If insurance does not cover the procedure, the patient is ultimately responsible for all charges.

Personal Items

Please bring a government-issued photo ID, insurance information, and a list of all current medications, dosage amounts, and time of day you take them. Wear comfortable clothing. Do NOT wear any makeup or nail polish. Leave all jewelry and valuables at home.

Prohibited Items

Please leave food, drink, and cell phones outside of our facility. No form of tobacco use is permitted on any part of the East Valley Outpatient Surgery property. This includes buildings, sidewalks, and parking areas on or near the property. We appreciate your understanding.

Driver Required

All patients must arrange for a responsible adult driver (over the age of 18) to remain in the surgery center during the entire stay. Your driver must have a valid driver's license. Failure to have a driver could result in a delay or the cancellation of your procedure. Taxi, Uber, bus, and other forms of public transportation are acceptable only if you have a responsible adult companion with you.

Children & Visitors

Only the person who will be driving you to and from your appointment will be allowed inside East Valley Outpatient Surgery with you. In order to reduce the possible spread of disease, additional visitors are not allowed in our surgical facility. This person must remain present while your surgery is being done. Please make appropriate arrangements for child care outside of our office. We appreciate your understanding.

Recording Devices

Consistent with state and federal privacy laws, and as a condition of treatment, audio, photographic, or video recordings are not permitted inside East Valley Outpatient Surgery. Should anyone be observed recording or taking photographs with a cellphone or other device, the individual will be asked to immediately erase the audio, video, or photographs to protect the privacy of persons present.
